Each year, the foundation organizes a fundraising ride which takes place in September. The participants have the option of cycling either 50, 100 or 160 km.
Through generous donations, the ride has been able to raise $ 400,000 since it’s inception. Dr Wimmers has cycled 160 km in each event from 2009 to the present.
This year, Dr Wimmers will be unable to participate in the Farley Ride, but will still be raising money for the Farely Foundation by participating in a Half Ironman race. Dr. Wimmers and Farley will be travelling to Almere, Holland to swim 2 km, cycle 90 km and then run 21 km. He and Farley will begin training for a Half Ironman event immediately so that they are in top shape for race day on September 13, 2014.
Follow our facebook page and website for updates and videos of Farleys training progress. Cheer Farley on as he embarks on a new venture for him. He will rely on the experience of Dr Wimmers who has completed numerous triathlons, everything from the flat out sprint distances to the grueling Full Ironman events.
Donations can be made at either office or online at www.farleyfoundation.org
Remember, there are two types of dogs in the world. Those who can swim/bike/run , and those who wish they could. Go Farley.
